Spanish Newspaper ABC. In these interviews, Cesar discusses the importance of the immigrant vote in the upcoming local and statewide Spanish Elections in 2011. Europa press quotes Cesar:

“According to Martinez, political election expert, the parties that make a great effort to communicate with the immigrant voter from the very start of 2011, will be able to reap the benefits for sure. However, those that don’t make this effort, run the risk of losing the vote of an entire generation.”

MAS President, Cesar Martinez, interviewed in Spain’s El Mundo

Our firm’s president, Cesar Martinez, was recently interviewed by Spanish top newspaper El Mundo, in regards to the upcoming Spanish Elections:

“En declaraciones a Europa Press, Martínez ha hecho especial hincapié en que el nuevo votante no tiene las “fuertes influencias” que tradicionalmente existían y que le llevaban a tener una “cierta preconcepción”. “En España hay un electorado muy identificado con cada partido, ya sea por tradición familiar, porque la gente se inclina por su ideología, etc, pero el nuevo votante puede ver de forma más independiente los partidos“, ha avisado.

He comments to Europa Press that the new voter in Spain is not as identified with a particular party, and can, in fact, view the parties in an independent way.

Why vote YES to DREAM Act

The DREAM act, or The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act,  would provide undocumented students (usually of undocumented parents, as one can only get residency through the parents)   who graduate from US high schools, of good moral character, who arrive in the U.S. illegally as minors, and have been in the US continuously and illegally for at least five years prior to the bill’s enactment, the opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency if they complete two years in the military or two years at a four-year institution of higher learning.

In spite of the  controversy surrounding this legislature,  for practical reasons and simple economy, we believe voting YES to the act is a good thing.  Here’s a few practical reasons why:

1. States would benefit from getting a new generation of hard-working, productive people.

2. We have already invested in their education  from K-12.

3. The Dream Act  gives us the opportunity to get a return on this investment: by these young kids getting or creating good jobs, by them paying taxes , even defending our country.

By voting no, this valuable investment is lost. And realistically, whether one supports it or not,  these kids are not  going  anywhere – they will still stay here regardless. It is a benefit to all of us to make this stay a legal and positive one.

General Mills supports Latina Blogera power!

In an initiative to support the Latino family, usually led by la mamá,  General Mills, probably one of the top food companies worldwide, developed Qué Rica Vida,  an  initiative designed to provide Latina moms with  relevant lifestyle information and expert advice on Education, Holiday Occasions, Health & Wellness and Family – in a culturally relevant way.  But more than that, Qué Rica Vida is a platform created to empower Latina woman. And it’s taken off in such a way that it is sponsoring a ¡Parranda! party in Miami, celebrating its top three blogeras: Ana Flores of Spanglish Baby, Melanie Edwards of ModernMami, and Carrie Ferguson Weir of Tiki Tiki Blog. In this way, General Mills, through it’s Vida platform, nurtures the relationship that  began earlier this year  more than 30 Latina bloggers were invited  to the Miami re-launch of QuéRicaVida.com, as well as hosting Latina bloggers in the Betty Crocker Kitchens at company headquarters in Minneapolis. General Mills also is sponsoring bloggers at this year’s Blogalicious conference This is a fantastic example of not only Latino importance, but blogera power -  backed and developed by the  $16 billion company that markets  brands such as  Cheerios, Häagen-Dazs, Nature Valley, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, and Green Giant,  to name a few.
